This and That By Kurt Sievert I recently took possession of the "Saint" video tape collection from Bob Skoog. It consists of 8 episodes of the 60's series starring Roger Moore. I watched the first two episodes, then scanned the remaining six for occurrences of Simon Templar's P1800. Unfortunately, Polygram Video chose to select episodes taking place outside of England. Thus, the car only appears in one episode, "The Reluctant Revolution" (tape 3, episode 1), and only for a few seconds at the beginning. If you're not familiar with the series, it's loaded with spies, bad guys, and 60's style action. Some of the clothing and hair styles are, shall we say, slightly comical. I also have a copy of an original full length "Saint" feature entitled "The Fiction Makers" which also features the car briefly. For those of you who don't receive the IPD catalog or fliers in the mai1, they just mailed out a sale flier for vintage cars (mainly P1800, 122 & 140 series) featuring exhaust, suspension, engine, carburation, interior trim, rubber parts, seat webbing and T-shirts. Check with other club members if you're interested in finding out what they have available. As always, check other sources for price, availability and quality of product. Some of the items are unique to IPD. Stay tuned for future "This and That" columns dealing with technical issues. Until next time....... |
