SDVSA 2002 Swap Meet

By Goran Freske & Jeff Perry

Although not fantastic, the turnout for the 22nd (?) Annual Swap Meet, held at Crown Point, was decidedly better than last year. The first page lists the participants, and the pieces of Swedish Iron, which are closest to their hearts. Unfortunately, by the time Jeff Perry arrived from an obligatory stint at work (hope you get overtime pay, Jeff!) to photographically record this event for posterity, most of the participants and their machines were gone. The main attraction was, undoubtedly, Richard Pattee's Volvo TP21, which is the subject of Richard's article on pages 9 and 10 of this newsletter.

The name on the decal in the picture below should be familiar to every 1800 owner. For those of you who are unaware, Pelle drew the lines of the P1800 prototype as a young man barely in his 20s, and later went on to designing yachts, including some of Sweden 's entries into the Americas Cup. The great mystery is: How did this sticker end up on Richard Pattee's "Sugga"?
