HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ONE AND ALL!
A few “schedule of events” changes were made at the General Meeting on December 13 (see page 3). The dinner meeting at Ruby’s scheduled for Thursday, January 18, is changed to a SDVSA Lunch on Saturday, February 24 at Ruby’s on the Oceanside Pier. More details on this event in February’s 1800 NEWS. The Tech Session at Gear Vendors on that date was postponed indefinitely, due to an ”overbooking of tours”(?). The scuttled “Pizza ’n’ Video Night” (at least the “video” part) of November 8, 2000, is officially rescheduled for the General Meeting on Thursday, February 15. The 11 members attending December’s meeting thought it prudent NOT to meet on our usual Wednesday night in February, which happens to fall on St. Valentine’s Day! The General Meeting in February will be held at our former haunts of the Boll Weevil at 9330 Clairemont Mesa Blvd., (858)571-6225. We won’t have any pizza, but this restaurant has excellent ”Steer burgers” and various other foods, which promise to keep your blood cholesterol levels up. And we will finally see the promised videos! Confused? Refer to the SDVSA Schedule of Events on page 3. NOTE! Whilst you are looking at page 3, notice the box at the bottom of the page. This contains names, addresses and ’phone numbers for all the officers of the SDVSA. |
Please refer to these in case you have any questions or other correspondence with the club. We’d like to hear from you, by the way! For the fourth time (a new record), Ken Monson won Bob Skoog’s 50/50 raffle, and he would have been $26 richer had he been present at the meeting. Instead, the prize money goes back into the pot until the next drawing. Another of Jeff Perry’s well done picture story on pages 5 and 6 shows the goings on at the 2000 Christmas Party. We want to thank Mark and Diane Jankowski again for inviting us to their beautiful home for our traditional festivities. At the party, Bud and Christine Hartwell offered to host next year’s Christmas party at the famous “Hartwell Car Barn”. Thank you Bud and Christine for the timely invitation, which eliminates our perennial search for the Christmas party venue for 2001. The first Volvo oriented happening in the New Year of 2001, will be a Tech Session which will take place at Bob Workman’s European Auto in Vista on Sunday, January 21. Dave Hunt, and his OCVSA club, will sponsor this event, and more details on this session can be found on the next page. This is an excellent opportunity for all members who never had the pleasure of meeting our guru of Volvo repairs, to get familiar with Bob’s operation. Make it a New Year’s resolution to participate in the
activities of your SDVSA! |
